Police Department
The Mission of the Moose Lake Police Department is to provide the highest level of service through partnerships and problem solving in a professional, ethical and timely manner.
Please fill out the Check Residence Form and bring into the Moose Lake Police Department if you are going to be away from your home for the weekend, week, month or season. The Police Department will check your residence while you are away in order to curb break-ins and burglaries.
City of Moose Lake residents may obtain a permit to purchase (PDF) a handgun at the Moose Lake Police Department.
Applications
Applications may be printed out and completed prior to coming to the Moose Lake Police Department.
Applications are also available at the Police Department's front desk window. Applicants will be asked to provide a valid driver's license with a current Moose Lake address. A background check will be completed and when it is approved, the permit will be issued by the Chief of Police and mailed to the permit holder. There is no fee.

The City of Moose Lake Police Department does not issue permits to carry. These must be obtained from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, which is located at:

The Moose Lake Police Department has a drop off site for unused pharmaceuticals. Let's keep them out of the trash and sewage systems. Proper disposal protects our soil and water. Drop them off in the lobby at the Moose Lake Police Department and they will be picked up and brought to a location where they are incinerated. Hours to drop off are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
